Meet Carmilla Jo

Carmilla Jo is a San Francisco Bay Area-based voiceover artist, cosplayer, and model. Inspired by her love for storytelling and desire to connect with fellow authentic creatives who chase the fantastical, she has evolved into a one-woman creative producer and powerhouse.

By taking creative control in her works, she has yielded numerous publications, interviews, and cover features. She has been hired by companies like Adult Swim, Riot Games, and T-Mobile, and is available for diverse opportunities, including audiobook narration, animation projects, video games, and cosplay appearances.

She is also a graduate of UC Berkeley and an author represented by Erin Murphy Literary Agency under the name Jo Wu.

  • Carmilla Jo is a professional, courteous, and wonderful cosplayer to work with. Not only did she show up on time, she reviewed all requested documentation before the event and acted with decorum and professionalism that isn't common in onsite cosplay staff. Not only is her cosplay craft impeccable, but she engages with the community in such a way that fans are instantly comfortable with her. It takes a special kind of human to not only make the costume to the level she did, but onsite bring an energy that amplified our event. Carmilla was a joy to work with for our League of Legends Worlds 2022 finals and if another event ever came up again- we would hire her in a second. We highly recommend working with her at any large cosplay event.

  • We’ve worked with Carmilla Jo multiple times over the years, and she has always been a joy to have on our team. With every gig, whether it’s staffing for the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, cosplaying at the Love Nikki @ Anime Expo Midsummer Night’s Dress Up Party, or walking the Knights of the Zodiac red carpet Hollywood premiere, she has always represented cosplayers with professionalism and charismatic decorum. As long as we keep having roles and gigs that she’s a great fit for, we’ll keep having her back!

  • I met Jo through an open casting call for an upcoming Geek Fashion Show. While our show is all inclusive, not everyone makes the cut. Models must be open and accepting of a wide variety of people. They also must be professional and have the confidence to carry themselves onstage, but I think the most important trait we look for is enthusiasim, Jo had that in abundance. The show is very fluid and there are always last minute changes throwing curve balls. Jo has met every demand made of her with a smile on her face and desire to meet the challenge. In the course of working with Jo on the show another opportunity came up to work on a marketing promotion with a Japanese software company. A modeling agency I work with overseas asked me to cast spokesmodels for a domestic game launch. Jo was immediately one of the models I thought of for this gig. Jo was punctual, professional, and engaging. I received nothing but compliments for her work on this project. I would not hesitate to work with Jo whenever given the chance. She is a pleasure to have on the team.

  • I admire Carmilla Jo's work ethic, acting ability, and initiative. She adapted to notes extremely well, always going the extra mile to get to the heart of the character. For my thriller novel, she checked on the correct tone to use for a Chinese name, mastered advanced medical terms and French phrases, and even sang a song title. She never complained about retakes, worked super fast, and her audio quality passed the check almost immediately. I know Carmilla Jo will go far.

  • Thank you for working with me. You’ve made me a better photographer and keep me in love with photography.”

  • Carmilla Jo modeled for Prince Noir for the Judas Fashion show and was very compliant and willing to work! We later used her for the Judas photoshoot and she always gave her best. We worked with her again in another photoshoot with a custom PN dress and PN’s BJDs. She was very loving to our items and respected the photographer, makeup artist, and designers. She’s very friendly and was easy to get along with, making the shoots go even easier. We will be using her again for more shoots!
